We Found the Missing 60 Minutes Report on Chevron's Crimes In Ecuador
Sharing the 2009 segment that mysteriously disappeared from the show's website
A few days ago, I shared this tweet about the award-winning segment from 2009 from the US news show 60 Minutes that investigates the horrific impact of Chevron’s oil drilling in Ecuador’s rainforest that resulted in a $9.5 billion pollution judgment against the company. The report by Scott Pelley focused on Chevron’s deliberate decision to dump toxic oil waste into the Amazon to lower production costs, as seen through the lens of our legal case; it includes an interview with me. Mysteriously, the segment was scrubbed from the show’s website (apparently under pressure from Chevron) years ago even though it had received an Emmy award for journalistic excellence. Well, we have now recovered the full episode! At the bottom of this email is a link so you can watch it. My advice is to hurry up and watch it before Chevron again tries to erase it from the Internet.
